Hypnotherapy
As Humans grow and learn, we generate patterns through repetitive acts of motion or thought and after time these patterns become an automated response. This can be beneficial as it enables us to function at a faster rate throughout the day, however some responses can cause us unwanted challenges or issues. We are not born with these issues but instead create them by choice, circumstance or environment. Research has shown that our subconscious mind makes up to 90% of our decisions and behaviours. Although our conscious mind knows how to deal with situations rationally, the subconscious minds primary function is to protect us, however a force of limiting and unhelpful behaviours can occur to this early programming.
There may be an aspect of your life that you wish to change but something keeps stopping or sabotaging your best intentions. Hypnotherapy helps to disrupt, reframe or eliminate unwanted patterns by addressing them at source, in this case the subconscious mind, at the same time it will replace or introduce new positive or supportive patterns. Hypnosis combined with therapeutic and psychological techniques allows me, as your therapist, to access the infinite resources of your subconscious mind to bring about the therapeutic changes you desire.
Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)
NLP is the practice of understanding how people organise their thinking, feeling, language and behaviour to live their lives. It describes the fundamental dynamics between mind and language and how that affects our bodies and behaviour. It can be further described as the process by which subjective change occurs through the use of language and brain conditioning. Negative, limiting, unhelpful thoughts and processes are changed into positive helpful cognitions allowing the resolution of problems to be achieved quickly and easily.
These techniques can help you gain the confidence to succeed in many areas or activities. For example, you can visualise yourself being successful at public speaking or a sporting event, or overcome issues that are stopping you from doing what you want, such as flying or travelling. As your therapist, we would work together to enable you to plan and achieve your desired outcome.
Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing
EMDR is a form of psychotherapy first developed in the 1980s. Certain eye movements or other form of bilateral stimulation (BLS) have been shown to reduce the negative thoughts, feelings and emotions associated with unpleasant memories. EMDR was originally introduced as an effective treatment for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). More recently this innovative technique has been shown to be of value in the treatment of depression, phobias and many other issues.
The mind processes memory all the time, however some memories, usually of adverse events, might be incompletely processed. This results in recurrent triggering of distressing thoughts, feelings and images. Whilst we can't erase unpleasant memories, the process of Eye Movement Desensitisation Processing (EMDR) can detach the memory from the disturbing experience, significantly reducing any associated distress.
HypnoBirthing – The Mongan Method
Hypnobirthing is as much a philosophy as it is a technique. It is a rewarding, relaxing, stress-free method of birthing that is based on the belief that all babies should come into the world in an atmosphere of gentility, calm and joy. When a mother is properly prepared for birthing physically, mentally and spiritually, she can experience that sort of joy, birthing her baby in an easier, more comfortable and often, even pain-free manner. Through a well thought-out program of deep relaxation, self-hypnosis, special breathing techniques, visualization, affirmations and education, Hypnobirthing returns to a woman the art of birthing in a way that allows her to summon her natural birthing instincts and to birth her baby in safety and with ease.
